Ecological Sustainable Development is one of the biggest challenges facing individuals and businesses as we look into the future.
ESD relates to maintaining or improving our high quality life, while taking care of our natural environment at the same time.
Wednesday 1st of September
LETS GET STARTED!
TASKS
1) Create a wiki page for your area.
2) Where does your group want to take your ideas?
In your group brainstorm / plan how you want to tackle your area of sustainbility.
3) Work out where we are now? What is the current state of our ESD? Are we happy with the quality of our school? What improvement could be made?
4) Plan some tasks for each member in your group to commence. Some examples are;
Secretary- Update your groups wikipage. We need to see exactly what every group is up to and what is happening next. Human Resources - What does your group need to know about your area of sustainability before you can create a submission?
i.e. Energy. How is energy measured in our school? What is the trend of some of our power bills? How much money is the school spending on energy? how many tones of carbon dioxide does the school produce when using energy (its all on our old power bills) Public Relations – Who do we need to speak to in order to get as much information about the current state of our natural environment? Before we plan anything we need to know what we can and can’t do, who can we speak to?
Lyn?
Clive (he is in charge of the indigenous garden)
Miss Niblett at the office (school business manager) C.E.O (the brainstrust) – make sure before anyone heads off to speak to anyone in the school, or collect information that they have thoroughly through about the questions they are asking or the type of information they are looking for.
Tuesday 8th of September
1) Look at “Wednesday 1st of Sept” make sure you are up to date with everything. 2) It is very important that we understand what we can and can’t do before we start planning a submission to change our environment. What factors will stand in our way. a) Money (chances are the school will not allocate money to us. What are some other ways we can get money from for our submissions) a. Donations? b. Government grants? c. Fund raising? b)Logistical (who will be responsible for maintaining our changes once they have happened) c)School policies – does our submission fit in with the bigger picture of the school ethos. d)Realistic – Is your submission realistic? Can it happen in the short term or should it be a long term process.
